Geek Gadgets To Support Army Life

Alright... anyone could write an article about pocket knives, flashlights, boot knives, and hiking backpacks, but what about the nerds of the army? Hail Signal Corps! Ahem... yes... so what about us? Well, I've just purchased a new laptop. My old one will remain at home to continue deejaying weddings. My deejay business will be maintained by Joe, Mike, and Josh--or so goes the theory.

Acer Aspire One 751h in red, $295 (purchased)
This little netbook is quite charming and attractive. There is vast improvement over the original Acer Aspire One (which was, in my opinion, the best of the first generation netbooks). If you want to know more, you should probably read my laptop reviews article in my technology blog.

2GB of Laptop RAM, $31.84 (purchased)
This should really be an assumed part of the above purchase. Performance of the aforementioned netbook is subpar without this little details.

Black Neoprene Netbook Sleeve with Cord / Accessory Pocket, $14.11 (purchased)
Let's see... what could I carry around with this. Oh! I know! I'll carry my netbook. At less than a pound, carriers like this are SO much better than the laptop bags that big laptops usually get sold with... and it's less expensive than that sort of thing.

Red Mouse with Retractable Cord, $11.24 (not purchased)
I'm on a little bit of a red and black gadget kick (not that an observer would be able to tell since my frugality requires that I add things to a wishlist instead of a shopping cart). This is tiny, portable, and cheap!

Red Mousepad, $4.99 (not purchased)
Because it's red and sometimes you need a mousepad.

Alternative for $1.12 (but might be low quality)

Red and Black Bluetooth headphones with mouthpiece, $42.99 (not purchased)
These lil buggers would be a lot of fun for making free online phone calls. I'll buy these when I get deployed or if I get stationed overseas. At that point I'll also get a phone number for my Skype account. Pretty nice way to communicate from afar, I do say.
